the opening track of our debut ep on this never happened, reflections set the tone for what archaellum would become—emotion-led, minimal, and cinematic. lane 8 opened his grand lake set in 2020 with reflections, which sparked anticipation in the months leading up to its release.

on release week, reflections reached no. 25 on the beatport top 100 and was supported by anjunadeep, nora en pure, marsh, and david holmes. it also featured on spotify’s chill tracks playlist and apple music’s after hours playlist. stereofox described it as a song that “sits somewhere between hope and nostalgia,” while dancing astronaut called the full ep “a masterclass in ambient catharsis”—words we’re still grateful for. this track was our way of marking a beginning—not with noise, but with space.

this was the first track we ever released as archaellum. it came together during a season of pause—when we found ourselves craving stillness and space to breathe. reflections is built around a simple piano motif, recorded late one night and left almost untouched. we layered it with ambient textures, subtle string work, and field recordings that felt like memory.
